Reikes small life...

Too much snow!

Windy morning walk with a bit of fresh snow. How beautiful!, I thought.

Worked for a couple of hours, walked with Djeili again (Said to P: "The wind turned the roads a bit icy, we need to be careful when we use the car later."), then we headed off to a house-warming. We were supposed to meet the son of the famous German astronaut Ulf Merbold (Philipp works together with him), so I was quite excited, also about meeting Philipp's other colleagues. It was snowing. Heavily. Icy, VERY icy. We had to go uphill. Cars were sliding towards us, one car standing by our side of the road was missing its nose. Terrible conditions! A truck had gotten stuck in our lane and it took ages for everybody to pass it. Big traffic jam. More and more cars stopped to put winter chains on (we don't have any, only the winter tires). Thankfully a nice Swiss person helped Asian tourists to put theirs on their rental car. Then came the point when it was just too much for our Kangoo, the road so slippery it couldn't climb it anymore, wheels turning without any movement of the car whatsoever. That was a terrible moment. We sat in the car, Philipp doing some thinking, me trying not to freak out. Then another effort, Philipp doing his best to get the car going, me shouting motivation and extra horse powers into its engine, and we managed to move again. Philipp even avoided bumping into other cars that were caught by the side of the road, too, very close!
Then we turned round and drove very, very slowly back home...

Djeili didn't want to come from the start and must have thought that a mad trip out the house: Loading her in the car, alternating between driving around shouting or standing still for a total of 2.5 hours (on 40 km) and finally ending up - in the garage again, where we started!
