Not Portobello Beach Day 98

The rain in France last night turned to snow by dawn. This gate had to be cleared before we could get out onto the roads which both French and Swiss agencies had cleared with enviable efficiency. Geneva airport was also fully operational and my return flight landed in Edinburgh from the west (ahead of schedule) denying me the customary aerial view of Portobello Beach! Cloud over France gave way to snowy scenes from Essex to the Firth of Forth but no snow lying to the west except on the Cumbrian Fells. The Southern Uplands and the Highlands north of the central belt gave the Alpine views I have been enjoying over the last three days excellent competition.
