Frist Day Hike

The Colorado State Parks have a First Day Hike every January 1st. These are Ranger led, and range from 1 to 3 to 5 mile hikes. My friend and I chose to do the 1 mile hike this morning since the temperature was only 7 F (-14 C). Our guide's first comment was "Why are you crazy people even here?!" We did not see any wildlife, but the moisture in the air was freezing into beautiful "diamond dust."
At the end of our walk we were treated to hot chocolate and a 25% off sale in the Welcome Center. I picked up a Rocky Mountain wildflower guide book, in hopes of coming back to the park in the summer.
