Little Grebe - 1

Happy New Year everyone.

I didn't go out with the intention of photographing a bird today and had a very nice bridge photo on the Middlewich canal lined up for today's blip. However, as I was walking along the canal I saw this bird that I couldn't identify. It didn't look like a moorhen or coot and I suspected it was a grebe and now that I am home I have positively identified it as a little grebe. As they are not particularly common birds, and I didn't blip one last year, I thought it would be a good opportunity to start off this year's blip bird collection with something a bit different.

Just remembered that it is my 1500th blip. Quite a coincidence that it should land on January 1st.
