BACK BLIP
John Betjeman, 1906-1984. The Poet who saved the station. This elaborate St Pancras building wouldn’t be standing today if it wasn’t for this gentleman.
Today we travelled on the London Waterbus Company long boat and spent a pleasant time being navigated through the canals of Little Venice to Camden Lock market, returning to the basin along the same route.
Paddington Station and the well known bear of the same name was visited and photographed for the grandchildren. There’s no doubt he’s a popular figure.
Our next stop was the grand railway station of St Pancras. It is a magnificent building, inside and out and we knew time would be limited on the day our tour group departed from here for Paris.
