The Hidden Life of Trees
A great book I've recently added to my collection is called 'The Hidden Life of Trees' by Peter Wohlleben. (Personally I'm an audio book fan.) It's about the scientific discoveries around how trees communicate with each other chemically and through their roots about, for example, insect attack, drought and nourishing nearby distressed trees. It's written in a most engaging way and an eye-opener about trees' value to the whole ecosystem and how a walk in a wood even lowers blood pressure for hours afterwards. So I dedicate this last day of the year to a composite of photos of trees taken during a brief morning walk in my beautiful local wood. Happy Hogmanay and here's to 2019.
