Tea with a Difference
Lest you think from this blip that I'm drinking my five fruit and veg portions from a cup, let me tell you that this is tea made from an insignificant little ball which then burst forth into a complicated flower when I added boiling water to the cup.
It was given to me by my friend o.m.t's along with a mug bearing the inscription " I would rather be 39"; even a mug reading "I'd rather be 59" would have been acceptable.
It never fails to amuse me that any milestone age feels embarrassingly old until another decade has passed after which it seems rather young.
This same friend made me a stained glass plaque for my 50th birthday, with the 50 large and prominently displayed in the corner.
It needed to be put in the window so that the light could illuminate the beautiful poppies entwined in the centre, but I can remember how embarrassed I was to do that, knowing that people would put two and two together and realise my age which to me then, seemed very old.
Now of course it graces a window in the Dower House and I know that whatever people think they know full well it has nothing to do with my age.
The tea by the way, tasted revolting.
