On the way home

9th day without power - but it came on in the afternoon.
Terrible weather for our drive home, heavy rain, limited visibility, but what a relief to drive onto the ferry.  This would have been the 9th day without power and we weren't expecting it to be on when we got home.  The chief steward let us use her phone to call a neighbour, and he told us that another neighbour had stopped by to tell him that the hydro crew was working on our road.  When we turned up our road, the wire just passed the mailbox was still on the ground, but further up, we had another "what a relief" feeling when we saw the crew fixing the other wires. I yelled "Thank you!" to the flaggers as we passed.  Not long after we got home, the power was back on. What we take for granted - hot water at the turn of a tap, light at the flick of a switch! Such conveniences.
This man on the ferry was almost a natural for a mono shot.  :)
