In search of the Da Vinci Code

Visitors have a way of getting us out of our comfort zone.
 
So it was today that we visited Rosslyn Chapel, outside Edinburgh, now an international tourist attraction thanks to the movie and the book The Da Vinci Code.

This is one of Scotland’s most remarkable buildings, and it has been in the ownership of the Earl of Rosslyn’s family since its foundation in 1446 and is still used today as a place of worship.
 
Yet we had never visited it- until today. And what a treat we have missed all these years!
 It is an amazing building.
 
But it is the power of storytelling, of the mythical Da Vinci code, that  shot this once derelict  medieval chapel on to every international tourist bucket list.
Photography inside the chapel is strictly forbidden so I have put in some links which give a flavour of the interior which has been described as " the bible written in stone".
