Battlefield

This may look just like another bit of countryside but no, it's possibly the location of a mighty battle between the English and the Danes (led by tide arguing King Cnut). It seems we lost.

H and I have been trying to make a bit of an effort to get out with the dogs over the holiday, venturing over paths we don't normally follow. It's a good change.

Anyway this is one of the suggested locations of the Battle of Assandun. 

A little closer to home there was the 'Linton Rebellion' a minor civil war battle, part of which took place in our garden!

Lots of history here, especially the old bits of the village.

This afternoon I mended a sink, after which I felt I should retire with a glass of wine.
