See Struck

My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess Normal,

Today we went to see "The Favourite" at the Light House Cuba. This is one of the arthouse cinemas in Wellington - we are quite spoiled here for cinemas.

To be honest it (the cinema) was a bit of a disappointment. For a start, it was a bit of a clusterf*** actually getting into the place as there was a queue out of the door (their box office and their coffee shop and their sweetie queue are all in one). Then the seating was a bit cramped and to add to that, Cazza's seat was damp. The staff had put down a tea-towel.

"I hope that's just water," said LB. Cazza went to get a new tea-towel.

So Light House Cuba has been struck off my list of Acceptable Places To See Filums. Today's blip was taken in their khazi, by the way.

But the film. You would all like it. It is a tragic yet funny tale of intrigue in the court of Queen Anne. Anne is played by Olivia Colman and she is quite wonderful.

It's also a very frank film. Very very frank. About matters. Or to put it another way, I don't think I've heard the word "c***" quite so often in such a compressed space of time before, ever. And in fact I even learned a new word - to be infatuated with, or physically obsessed with someone is to be "c***struck" by them.

A couple of old ladies walked out, tutting. Prudish c***s.

After the film we went to the old St. John's Ambulance building which is now a funky restaurant - St. John's. And then back home for the documentary about Bros. "After The Screaming Stops". Thank you Auslaender for the recommendation.

So a good day. We learned about history, due to scenes like this:

PRIME MINISTER: You must write to the Queen. A diplomatic letter to resolve your differences.
SARAH CHURCHILL: I shall.

(Sarah sits in front of her parchment with a quill in her hand)

SARAH: (Writing) "You c***."

Hee hee hee. I'm intellectual.

S.
