A hazy day
But a lovely walk from home.
Today I finished another read. Highly recommendable unless you're too sensitive about mistreatment and injustice. Heartbreaking to know it's based on true facts. The past isn't always a better place.
The book is in the extra. And here are my thoughts :
A fantastic read. Horrific to read about what happened to lower class families. How they were robbed of their children because there was a profit to gain. And with all the profits made the children in care were still treated horribly. The story of these siblings is fictional, but the "care" center was real, so was the name of Georgia Tann, who died before they were able to bring her to justice for her actions.
The book has two storylines. One set as early as 1938, the other one is told by the granddaughter of one of the taken siblings, unfolding her family's past. Both storylines are good reads. From page one to page last.
