All is quiet

Instead of the usual boxing day slump, I joined a friend on a walking tour of Manchester. There were very few people about so I was able to sneak in a quick blip of the Albert memorial without the usual covering of people. Constructed with the aid of a donation of fifty thousand bricks from the Manchester Bricklayers, it"s faced demolition more than once before being listed. In the 1970s, there was a proposal to flatten the whole square and replace it with modern concrete. Today's trash could be tomorrow's treasure.
