Scotia Barrens: Mist Rising Over Beaver Ponds
It was a rainy morning, but the precipitation cleared out earlier than we expected. My husband wanted to jog. So off we went to the local gamelands, SGL 176, the Scotia Barrens, our closest access point to Pennsylvania woods and waters. He jogged; I walked, with camera. The woods are as wet as I've ever seen them in late December, with standing water everywhere.
The woods seemed misty. Some of the beaver ponds have frozen over, but they were melting in spots because of the warmer weather and the rain. I arrived at one of the bigger ponds just at the right time. Conditions were strange and lovely, with mist rising through the trees.
Here's a misty soundtrack song: Van Morrison, with Aryan Mist.
