The Boring Car Shot
Well, I hadn't shot anything else all day, then came the late-night shuffle to the supermarket... We really do take for granted now the fact that you can just pop out for any required items pretty much round the clock. I'm still not sure if it's a good or a bad thing. What I do know is that Asda at 11pm is a desolate wasteland of desperate humanity; although I have, once, rocked up at 2am and presumed I'd stumbled on the end of days. Seriously, if the zombie apocalypse ever comes the people shopping and working in the wee small hours in Asda will only find out when they realise, painfully late, that they're not being asked where the pot noodle aisle is, but are rather being informed that their brains are about to be dined upon.
So anyway, yes, you get a shot of the car. I've explained at length on here before about the dichotomy of a daily cyclist, cycle writer, occasional cycle campaigner (I've been redesigning roundabouts lately for press releases), and all-round cycle obsessive also really rather liking his motor, so I'll not go down that dull route - needless to say there are many who don't grasp it. But the car park confirmed the temperature drop, and attendant ice-forming on the wet surfaces. So looks like tomorrow it will be time to break out the mountain bike, with its studded ice tyres, for the commute. Should be interesting.
For the record, our third Mini...
05 plate red ONE hatch that went on the Italian Job rally and took us onto the rooftop Lingotto test track from the movie as well as Monza;
09 plate blue Cooper S hatch that did the continental and Western Isle shifts that tend to be asked of our cars;
current white Cooper S Clubman - more practical, just as much fun, but we went for the wrong colour...
Further for the record.... The Mini Countryman is a hideous monstrosity of a wart on the face of Britain's roads, we won't be scaling up from here (the Coupe thingy isn't much better). And to add to the above dichotomy, it is also possible to like the 'original' Mini and the remake - they're different cars, and yes the name may seem slightly 'odd' on the new one given it's the size of a Golf, but (and I've posited this before) an inappropriate moniker doesn't make it a bad car.
