The Goats are Here!

The fabled Belmont Goats have relocated to North Portland, and welcome they are. Some years back someone was able to keep their goats on a large empty lot in commercial southeast Portland - on Belmont Street. They were booted off, when owners developed the lot, and moved farther out in southeast, but got booted off that spot, too. Now, they are very near here, a ten minute walk, or so, on city-owned property. Basically, they're on the other side of the railroad cut from us, behind Fred Meyers, see the map in Extras. The goats are a bit northeast of the trailhead marker, our house is at Ivanhoe and Alma. And basically, every now and then this is where a homeless camp occasionally shows up - and eventually gets booted away by the police. Interesting world we live in.
And what to these goats do? Nothing! Some people rent out their goats to eat blackberry vines, some milk theirs, but these goats don't do anything but be goats, and you can go and visit them.
