The aftermath

Our friends R & L returned from their Christmas in the UK today so we invited them for dinner. They had unloaded the car fired up their (wood-fired) central heating, lit the logburner and come straight round. Other friends from up the road also joined us, and I made boiled beef with dumplings for the first time!
