It's a blip, innit

I went for lunch with Jane at the marvellous Drink, Shop & Do, which is an oasis of calm in King's Cross - perfect for a break from work. On the way back to the office, we stopped to giggle at this sign. A perfect bliportunity.

At the Feast meeting tonight we congratulated ourselves on a great weekend of Feast - yay for us! We also talked about working with the owners of empty shops on the high street to see if we could encourage pop-up shops, especially perfect for stallholders from Artisan's and artists from the local gallery. There's nowhere in West Norwood to buy gifts and pop-up shops would help brighten the high street and give locals something prettier to look at than nail parlours, estate agents, charity shops, cash converters and pawn shops (I spotted tonight that another pawn shop is opening where we used to have an electrical shop). With the local NatWest closing due to health and safety concerns (the bank was robbed seven times in 11 years), the high street has lost a key business and another wonderful building lies empty. Embarrassingly for NatWest, the founder of the bank is buried in West Norwood cemetery. Still, I can't blame the staff if they felt unsafe working in the bank - sitting targets if the security isn't right.

Talking of security, two of my London friends have been burgled this past week - one had his window smashed in, while the other friend had a burglar gain access through the cat flap. Grrrrrrrrr.
