Herne Bay
We decided to get out today and went over to Herne Bay. It is a fairly typical English seaside town but l prefer it to some of the others nearby, not so many funfares and penny arcade shops. There is a pier, built in 1899, where paddle steamers used to dock for passengers to embark/disembark on the journey to and from London. Sadly, it was damaged in a big storm and the sea end of it is now 1,154 meters from the land end with nothing to connect them.
Along the first bit of the pier is a display of satirical cartoons by some of UKs well known political cartoonists (see extras).
A good day, if more than slightly chilly, thank heavens for handwarmers and electric seats!
