U-Bahn München: 95/100 Universität

Munich Underground: 95/100 Universität

Now it has been more than half a year since my last blip from down below; at this rate it's going to take me years to finish the series, although I only have five more stations to go. Maybe I pushed back continuing my strictly alphabetical Munich underground series, because I knew the next entry would not be the prettiest.

Todays blip shows Universität underground station, serving - not so surprisingly - the university neighbourhood. It was opened in October 1971 as part of the original underground "network" (you can't really say network, if it's only one and a half lines, can you). It shares a lot of design features with the other stations of this year, like Giselastraße or Dietlindenstraße. Those features are mostly a lack of design - and colourful pillars.

Another thing, that Universität underground station has in common with the other 1970s stations is the urgent need for renovation, as you can see on the walls and ceiling.

The station is served by the orange U3 and blue U6 line, and connects to the city center as well as the south-western and north-western parts of Munich. With one train approx. every 2 minutes during peak times, it is part of the busiest line of the city.

95 down, only 5 to go.

"Right, about that: I broke it..." "How did you break this? Batting practice?!" "It's not user friendly." "You're not user friendly!" - (The Flash, S5xE5)
