Ardtoe

Woke up this morning to an ice encrusted car. It was cold through the night and the previously slushy wet snow from yesterday was now a continuous slippery slab. It didn't bode well for site work but our mission today was far west and at sea level. Driving around the outskirts of Fort William and then along the side of Loch Eil (the Sea) the conditions remained the same. Out past Glenfinnan and over the high pass known as the "Mooie"; it was still freezing with snow at the verges. Then we descended down the Mooie to Lochailort (another sea loch) and lo and behold the snow was gone and thermometer had climbed to a balmy 3 deg C.
The onward journey to Acharacle resumed at normal cruising speed and as we turned off to Ardtoe the sun was trying hard to move the mist. After getting the kit set up I did a quick on foot "reccy" of the site which took me to this very well built stone pier. So that's the blip. The day passed with dozens of other enticing blip opportunities but as with all our jobs at this time of year I dare not stop in case the we run out of daylight at the end of the day.
