Henry's First Christmas
Dear Diary,
Henry insisted on showing off his Christmas presents this morning. He had received his red scarf right after he came home with me but Santa didn't forget wee Henry yesterday. He got a fine new walking stick and lovely new brown boots, a straw hat to keep the sun out of his eyes on his adventures and a spiffy new suitcase (made from a match box) complete with a new journal to record his outings. He was quite tickled by his gifts.
A lovely, quiet day for all of us at Stone Mountain Farm. Emerson enjoyed lots of treats and a new mouse on a string to replace his sadly battered one. We watched the Call the Midwife Christmas special last night and stumbled off to bed very well contented. I thought, such a vast improvement on last year when I was recovering from surgery and down with a terrible cold. Life is very, very good!
