Christmas Eve

I got the day off! If you were planning to take today off it came out of your annual leave. If you were planning to work then you got it off for free. They were careful to ask everyone a few times what days they were planning to take off. Being a grind (slang*) I worked some hours anyway. 

Behind the presents are some woven paper hearts. They open into tiny baskets. It is common to decorate for Christmas with them in Denmark and my grandmother and her cohort in the US made them as children. I once learned how to make them and re-taught my grandmother and great-aunt how. It was a fun afternoon. It would be more fitting to strand them as a garland but they get tangled. I dropped them and liked how they look there.
