The Old Boathouse

I've often wondered about this shack on the other side of the lake, but it's quite far away and set in amongst dark trees. So I put my 400mm and 1.4x converter to work and was surprised how dilapidated it is. Why do we have such romantic ideals about old buildings?

It was a challenging shot because a stiff wind forced me retreat to the leeward side to avoid camera shake. Also, a day of sun and cloud led to some difficult contrast. Although the sunny version added interesting shadows on the roof, I preferred this shot.
