never being boring*

Christmas Eve! My favourite day of the whole year. It feels like a day of great anticipation and excitement, when anything might happen...

I had read on FB that the Tidal Bore was expected on the Nith at Glencaple eat 10.20am today, and waking up to find an amazingly sunny day with no clouds and a hard white frost, I thought that a trip down to see it would be a good way to spend Christmas Eve morning.

There were about 20 people on the quay, waiting and watching. The river was dead calm, without a ripple on its surface, but just before the bore was due, a man in a red kayak slipped in and paddled downstream to meet it. He then rode the wave as it travelled up the river. Very exciting!

The rest of the day continued in this glorious kind of way as I resisted the urge to go near the shops. D and I had a nice walk with Jess around the fields and then we went to Moniaive for another Christmas Eve tradition - Kate, our lovely choir director, always announces a get together in the Glenwhisk cafe to celebrate another year of LIFE!!! We drank tea, enjoyed the company and had a jolly good sing as well.

* pun of a title just so I have an excuse to listen to this again
