The day of reckoning...
I'm old enough to remember when credit card charges took 6 weeks to reach your bank account and paper 'sign for' receipts even longer. Once or twice they never made it through the system! Now the damned things are charged before the ink is dry.
This has been a fun morning trying to reconcile my dodgy exchange rate calculations with those of the bank. Needless to say I seem to have erred on the wrong side on every one. The trouble is that I just don't trust banks anymore and suspect that every penny they can squeeze out of me - honestly or not - they'll do it. They are a despicable lot. How sad that a once proud profession is now talked about in the same breath as pay day loan sharks, estate agents, insurance companies, utility suppliers and building societies. Oh ignore me, I'm ranting.
Now then, I don't remember signing for that? Add hotel cashiers to the above list....
