Musical

Day 6 of 7.

I didn’t see today’s performance, it wasn’t open to parents. But today was solos night at musical theatre. She’s not done a full vocal solo in a couple of years but this morning we pulled out her old one and she showed me just how much her voice has developed in that time (Her music teacher has floated that it’s time she should start formal singing lessons, sigh!).... Anyway, she went from upset because her friend was being horrible about her not having rehearsed a solo to having a strong one, that was unique to the many Greatest Showman songs the others were performing. It went really well she said, despite her teacher not getting the backtrack sorted so her having to sing unaccompanied!

After class, we came home and she spent some time exploring new pieces on her clarinet and piano. She then decided she was tired so we put The Snowman on the tv for snuggles. She promptly got up and headed to the piano to play along! She played the main theme beautifully and then continued to pick out by ear the melody line for the whole thing. It was one of those gorgeously magical, yet seemingly so small, moments.
