Timbered Porch of St John the Baptist Church
St John's, Berkswell was built in the 12th Century. It is a Norman church which has been built on the site of an earlier Saxon church. Remains can be seen in the crypt which date back to the 8th Century.
For me, one of the most interesting features of the church is this two storey timbered porch which was added to the entrance in the 16th Century. The room above the porch is now the vestry but it was originally used as the first school room in the village.
