The Enchanted Forest
We were in and out of the vets by 8.30am and on the road to the Eurotunnel at Folkestone, we stopped to fill up with diesel near Ashford and arrived at the tunnel at 10.30am. It was so busy, but we managed to get on our scheduled train, albeit 20 minutes late if that makes sense?
Once in France we stopped off at Cite Europe so I could call in the big Carrefour supermarket to buy the Pintade (Guinea Fowl) for our Christmas Eve dinner, and I also stocked up on wine, beer and champagne and then we were on our way to Le Touquet. I called Sophie the lady who was meeting us at the apartment and arranged to meet her at 4pm.
It's a very quirky apartment, being the ground floor of a very big old house and we noticed garage doors which are now non-existent because the kitchen is on the other side of the doors, so obviously at one time this apartment was the garage/basement. We unpacked, set up the Christmas tree and I put my Christmas table clothes on the tables, so it now looks very Christmassy.
We went for dinner at a nice restaurant that was only 5 minutes walk away, and then strolled back through the park which has been turned into the enchanted forest. There's an old bandstand which has been completely decked out with Christmas trees and fairy lights, and this is where Father Christmas hangs out. Alan noticed the moon shining through the trees and with the coloured lights it really does look like an enchanted forest.
Once we were back at the apartment, Alan and I took the boys our for a walk through the town which looks very festive with all the Christmas lights. It looks far more Christmassy than we expected and we look forward to showing mum around tomorrow.
