The gate to nowhere.
I blipped this gate some time ago in daylight. This evening it was by moonlight when we crossed the field on our way to Lullingstone Castle.
We had our first winter walk today. It was a beautiful day weather wise, ideal for a country walk.
We walked the muddy footpaths to the vineyard at shoreham where we relaxed with a bottle of rose and shared a large pizza.
After a couple of hours relaxation we continued our walk along the river and through the fields to Lullingstone Castle where we attended the candlelit Carol concert at St Botolphs Church which was in the castle's grounds.
We returned home by moonlight and it was the first time we had walked this route in darkness. Four miles of not being really sure where we were was quite an exhasting adventure. Everything looks so different in the dark.
My extra is a beautiful house by the river in Shoreham Village where the artist Samuel Palmer lived from 1828 to 1835.
