Portrait of the Artist as an Old Man
Drummond Mayo in his 90th year - still painting every day, still baking*, still grumpy.
Up early to get my hair cut, back home to hoover and wave a dichter about in anticipation of a visit from friend June for coffee and chat, then, while doing more ironing, I listened to an ancient tape of hits by Gilbert O'Sullivan - remember him? - which ended with this suitably seasonal ditty.
Now I'm just back from a lovely evening with Anne and Drum. *Tonight the man had baked an apple pie.
