Red as any Blood

Not just the Holly's berries but also the Poinsettia's bracts.  The showy part of the plant are these coloured bracts, actually modified leaves.  The flowers in the middle surely qualify for the Tiny Tuesday blip challenge.

Indigenous to Mexico and a member of the spurge family (Euphorbia pulcherrima) they can be grown outside once the danger of frost has passed but need a period of eight weeks of 13-16 hours a day uninterrupted darkness to initiate a repeat of the display next year.
