Sunday: Deception Pass
We've had a great little overnighter in La Conner. This morning, we did a bit more exploring - first over the bridge to Shelter Bay and then over Deception Pass (seen here) to Oak Harbor. It is called Deception Pass because when Captain George Vancouver discovered it, he thought he had reached the mainland, when it was, in fact, an island - he felt sorely deceived.
We were home by mid-afternoon - rather oddly, the rain held off until we were just over the border. I say oddly because it just buys into the myth that we get more rain in Vancouver than elsewhere.
