Fresh snow on the high hills
Heavy cloud cover and an incredible E wind - the buriana - with fantastic gusts that piped and gasped in the new roof voids. Even with metre thick stone walls and the shuttered cinched tight it felt like we might take off. And all out of a blue sky.
The word 'buriana' comes from the Turkish 'Buran' via Russian and serbo-croat. Apparently.
Later the wind died down and a low late afternoon sun lit up the pine forests above 1000m with their new snow.
