Cake Day number 13

Someone once said that we’re cancer survivors from the day we’re diagnosed rather than the day we get the all-clear.  And as such, we should celebrate that anniversary in much the same way as we would celebrate a birthday.

I was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer on December 16th 2005.  So now Anniemay and I call December 16th ‘cake day’.  

We have a particular reason to mark the date because back in 2005 the cancer had already spread to my liver.  The 5-year survival rate for advanced bowel cancer was just 5%.  So I really am one of the lucky ones.

Today’s cake of choice was an M&S Chocolate Yule Log.  I got the end bit.
