The dropped stitch

The day was brightened by a visit to one of my favourite crofts.
The owner knows now that I am fascinated by all the old machinery and he will happily answer a dozen, 'What is/was that?' questions. The place is an absolute treasure trove.

He had lots to say about this engine. 2 cylinder, 44 horse power, it was used in the 1930s to power a back- up generator at a local distillery. It would have had an electric starter attached, but without that it would have taken 2 people to get it going. The starting handle is still in place.

A wonderful piece of machinery. Shot of the whole thing in extras.
