Baubled Beard
Walked with Paul to meet a group of runners from our church, in the Blackroot Bistro, getting in the Christmas spirit... Weather was icy cold plus a light drizzle, my face stung. First time I got to walk somewhere interesting and was too cold to linger, or take photos.
Now at Deb and Sam's, babysitting the kids, while they and Paul are at a 21st party. You'd think I'd remember to take photos, I did bring the camera, but too distracted - fresh admiration for young Mums who are faithful Blippers, not easy.
Advent reading today was Jesus telling his disciples in Matthew 17:10-13 about John the Baptist:
"To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things..."
Saying how, when we're children, we believe everything can become right again, but as we get older, the optimism diminishes. That the prophets, like Elijah and John the Baptist, come to relight the desire for a restored life, restored relationships, the courage to take the first steps towards reconciliation, the energy to break the chains... that this earth might become a civilization of love, a planet that is a home for everyone.
