Up and down
Spend a night in a location like Black Hill Hut and the next day there is a lot of down hill - before another uphill...
We came down another route that looped us back to the main track and out again. It made the day a bit longer - 8.5 hours today. Mostly it was well tracked and straight forward, just long.
Mostly in beech forest we were warm/hot, but not over hot. We met a Dad with 2 young sons around 3.30pm. He seemed to have no idea how to read the new map he had with him. He was headed to Black Hill Hut too. That was a surprise as it's a steep track from the junction. Even more surprising he thought it was about an hour away. "Make that 4.5 - 5.5" we said. He decided on a lower hut but even that was 3.5 - 4 hours away. At a guess the youngest boy was about 7. Dad was well out of his depth. We wondered what they did in the end.
The car is usually the finish line but today it was the Oxford Pub. A pint and shared fish and chips. A perfect finish :-)
