Metrosideros mystery

This pretty climbing, self-sown plant emerged some years ago from within the trunk of a ponga pole surrounding my herb garden. I'm thinking it is a variety of rata ...has leaves almost 2cm long...and would be happy to have a blipping identification if you're able : ))
