Shells and fog
Near my apartment there is a Jomon (14000-300BC) period archaeological site, which I went to see for the first time. It consists of a mound created with layers of mud (I'm unsure whether it's artificial or natural), with a band of seashells running through it. I like to think it was the rubbish heap after a shellfish buffet. Don't know why they pumped water vapour for 10 minutes either, perhaps dramatic effect or to humidify the mud.
