Mansefield Memories

Heriot Row

It is early evening in Heriot Row and Nanny is bringing the children back from their outing. It's only 3.30pm but in December the sun sets and the street gas lamps have been lit by Learie the lamplighter. Lady Jean's friend, Moira, has been visiting the family and is now ready to be driven home in a hansom cab. Tom has finished his rounds delivering groceries to the big houses nearby and is popping in to see Cook for a quick cuppa. ( He is cook's secret admirer.) Everyone is beginning to think of Christmas - There is a holly wreath on the McLeod's door.
