War of the Roses - Part2
The story continues.......
If you missed the beginning, here's Part 1
When a Rose Show was coming up Dad would literally takeover the family refrigerator. He would line up his best blooms in soft drink bottles and lovingly tend to them one by one on the dining room table. In fact thinking back the whole house went into virtual lock down as Dad was nurturing his best roses for the upcoming show. I still have very vivid memories of Dad sitting on a kitchen stool at the dining room table with a pair of tweezers and cotton wool. He would gently place the cotton wool into the bloom to help shape the flower. It certainly gave him a winning edge and I'm not sure that he shared his creativity with his competitors :)
You may be wondering why I have titled the saga of the roses with the "War of the Roses". Well all will be revealed in coming days. Believe me there are dramatic events to come.
GOLF - Woohoo!! It was closing day at Golf today and we had a really fun round before all congregating in the club house for a hearty lunch and a session of "Mad Santa" where we all received an anonymous present from one of the other members. It was called Mad Santa because if you decided you liked the present someone had received you could take it off them. I could see this game getting a bit ugly, AND IT DID :)) Anyway it created a lot of laughter and we ended the season on a high note. Oh and I happened to hit the ball pretty well today so that put a smile on my face!
