Professor Robert Sutherland
Tonight at the Mackintosh Church we had a fabulous talk by Professor Robert Sutherland, "Reminiscences of Maria Callas"
In 1973 Glasgow born pianist Robert Sutherland was invited to be Maria Callas's accompanist on her final world-wide concert tour. After the tour they remained friends and Robert continued to work with her in her Paris home. Robert is the author of "Maria Callas" Diaries of a Friendship" - a memoir written about his time working with her.
This was a special occasion to hear Robert give a very personal viewpoint into his experience accompanying, and working with, the great singer. Today would have been Maria Callas's 89th birthday.
