Having collected little brown Silvan from his field and deposited him up at his still owner's stables to give him a de-wormer overnight, Angie and I set off with the horse trailer to collect Rosie from her owners at the Ammer Lake south of Munich.

It was naturally a heart-wrenching moment for Rosie being parted from her mum and the general herd she had grown up in. The drive home was very noisy as she blurted the entire trip.

Eventually, back at our place, Silvan was also collected and the two of them got to meet each other in the stall they were to share for the winter. Moments of panic from us, doubts, joy, more panic and doubts.

Then later in the day, the four older horses were brought in for the night and more chaos, panic and doubt!

I am pretty sure we didn't sleep well.
