Battle
No matter the outcome
No matter the loss of life
There will always be a battle
They fought the war to end wars
Where young life was held so cheap
They stripped mothers of sons
And left them nothing but to weep
No matter the destruction
No matter what we might lose
There will always be a battle
They said that the fighting was over
That never again would we see
A field littered with bodies
That of warfare we were now free
No matter the efforts for peace
No matter the gentle words spoken
There will always be a battle
They talked of peace into the night
They swore they'd find a way
But when all the talking was over
The dawn rose on another bloody day
They threw rocks at the tanks
Mothers cried as their sons were cut down
Another street, another country
Why, oh why, must there always be another battle?
