Picture 11: Weathering of basalt

Mull Geology Advent Calendar - Day 11 and today's picture was taken near Lochan na Guailne Duibhe just south of Tobermory. It shows the big contrast  between the freshly broken surface and the weathered surface of a basalt lava flow. The contrast is really quite sharp. Car key for scale.
