Gehry, nobody like him

These buildings designed by Frank Gehry are the Museum of Popular Culture. We only saw it from the outside, in the pouring rain, but oh, the curves, the colors, and of course the geometry. Many photographs.

We began the day with a wet stroll past the infamous Gum Wall and down to the Great Wheel and a walk along the water, where to our surprise about fifty people were standing out in pouring rain, fishing. We spent hours looking at Dale Chihuly's glass, expertly lit and presented in room after room of wonders; up into a murky sky in the Space Needle like proper tourists, which left us a little queasy, and finally we were too tired to go a step further.

We are grateful to my friend Paula, who is the reason we're here. She had planned to be in Seattle for a few days enroute from a gig as artist-in-residence in Port Townsend, Washington, back to her home in France. Sadly she developed bronchitis in Port Townsend, wasn't able to travel, and had to postpone her trip home. We had already bought our tickets and reserved a room in the hostel, so we decided to go through with it. I'm glad we did. It's a complete break from our familiar lives.
