Village Nursery
Cold but bright day. Just had a walk to the village for a few bits and pieces then spent the rest of the day wrapping up presents and writing letters to go in cards.
During the late 19th century the nursery was formerly the doctors surgery for the village. A Doctor Andrew Smith bought the property as it was in an ideal setting at crossroads which gave him easy access to other nearby villages which he served. In those days calls would be made on foot or horseback. His three were all doctors and worked in the local community.
The practice continued being run from this surgery until 1976 when a purpose built health centre opened. This has since closed and the former Cottage Hospital is now the health centre.
