Grievous Angel

To Liverpool, we need to think our way into Christmas.

We parked by the Anglican cathedral, and walked from there into the centre.

A sculpture has been erected to the side of the cathedral. It is part of a “save a life, surrender your knife” campaign. Thousands of knives have been collected by police forces across the country through local amnesties. The sculptor blunted and cleaned them all before use. Some blades have been inscribed with messages by families affected by knife crime, and by those who have used them and now recognise how awful these things are. Sobering.

Much lighter stuff in the centre (extra). I quite like Santa drumming.

On returning to the cathedral, a bird with blade like wings shot across and alighted atop the big north window. A peregrine falcon, it’s markings clearly visible to the naked eye. It was calling repeatedly, agitated by another peregrine we caught glimpses of as it flew by. The street pigeons stayed motionless on the sandstone ledges below.
