Dunstanburgh Castle

Today we walked from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. A cool wind kept us moving along but it stayed dry for the best part of the day. Sadly it is mostly ruined but I always love visiting the great fortresses of the past. I would love to have a time machine and be able to go back and see how life was during its habitable times.

Info:Dunstanburgh Castle lies on a spectacular headland on the coast of Northumberland in northern England, between the villages of Craster and Embleton.
The castle is the largest in Northumberland and the site shows traces of much earlier occupation before the erection of the castle was started in 1313 by the Earl of Lancaster
